A wooden bookshelf is an essential part of historical furniture for reenactors. This wooden furnishing was inspired by former Gothic models of medieval bookshelves.
It will be perfect for both camping as a furnishing in a tent and as an alder furniture at home. A good choice for merchants to present their goods like books, utensils or items of everyday life.
Our medieval bookcase is an alder furnishing. It has 3 shelves of 30 cm width and 120 cm length. It is 120 cm high.
This medieval bookshelf is very easy to set up. It is stabilized on its sides with wooden wedges. As the bookcase is made of alder, there is a possibility of reprocessing the wood. To slightly change its color, it is worth to varnish it first. Nevertheless, it can simply work as a wooden bookshelf in its original form.
NOTE! There is an option of impregnating the historical furniture with linen oil. If you are interested, please let us know in the “additional information” field when placing an order. The surcharge for the impregnation is 6%, counted from the price of the product.
The design of medieval wooden bookshelf

Our medieval furniture is finished with sandpaper of 60-level grit. Therefore, in some softer spots of a piece of furniture, you may find some slight, natural wood nap which is a result of polishing. It practically disappears after impregnating the furniture with the use of natural methods such as linen oil or wax. If you plan to varnish the furniture in more contemporary way and want us to make the furniture’s surface smoother (i.e. use sandpaper of higher grit), please contact us and we will tell you the price of the option.
